Around 50 students from the University of Education Freiburg, the University of Ljubljana, and the University of Murcia, spent an inspiring and highly productive week in Warsaw as part of a BIP (Blended Intensive Programme), working together on Virtual Exchange projects alongside peers from the University of Warsaw.
The collaborative projects focus on English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and aim to create meaningful intercultural learning experiences for pupils in primary and lower secondary education. Over the course of the programme, international student teams developed lesson concepts and digital exchange activities that will later be implemented during their teaching internships in schools.
Throughout the week, participants engaged in intensive workshops, lively discussions, and collaborative project development sessions. The programme also included school visits in Warsaw, offering valuable insights into the Polish education system and creating opportunities to exchange ideas with local teachers. These experiences encouraged reflection on different teaching approaches, classroom realities, and the role of international collaboration in language education.
Beyond the academic work, the week fostered intercultural dialogue, new friendships, and strong connections between future teachers from different European countries. The BIP once again demonstrated how international cooperation can enrich teacher education and prepare students to create more internationally connected classrooms.
A sincere thank you to the team at the University of Warsaw for their warm hospitality and excellent organisation, and to all partner universities for the inspiring collaboration and shared commitment to innovative education.
We are excited to see these Virtual Exchange projects come to life in classrooms in the months ahead.
