Reports
Pre-service Teachers’ Experiences with Virtual Exchange and their Attitudes Towards Implementing Virtual. Exchange into the curriculum — A needs analysis report.
The study served as a needs analysis on the prevalence and implementation of virtual exchange among pre-service teachers in preschool and primary education programs (N=501) from Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Spain and the UK. The questionnaire was created at the end of 2023, and it remained active until March 2024. After it was piloted, the final instrument consisted of 27 questions across 92 variables. The questionnaire was conducted exclusively in English to ensure consistency, avoid translation issues, and align with the target audience’s language education background. A non-probability convenience sampling method was used. The instrument was devised into 5 sections: understanding of virtual exchange, experiences with virtual exchange, competences concerning virtual exchange, needs regarding virtual exchange and demographic information.
In-service Teachers’ Experiences with Virtual Exchange and their Attitudes Towards Implementing Virtual. Exchange into the curriculum — A needs analysis report.
The study focused on analyzing the prevalence and manifestation of virtual exchange among in-service preschool and primary education teachers (N=309) from Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Spain and the UK. The questionnaire was created at the beginning of 2024 and remained active until May 21, 2024, consisting of 40 questions across 165 variables. The questionnaire was conducted online via the University of Ljubljana’s survey platform, One Click Survey (1ka). A non-probability convenience sampling method was used. The survey instrument was structured into six sections, covering understanding, experiences, challenges, competencies, needs, and demographic data, with a mix of question types. The majority of questions were aligned to the pre-service questionnaire.
Comparison between Pre- and In-service Teachers’ Experiences with Virtual Exchange and their Attitudes
Towards Implementing Virtual Exchange into the Curriculum
The last stage of project analyses is comprised of differences between pre-service and in-service teachers (see the previous two reports, Pre-service Teachers’ Experiences with Virtual Exchange and their Attitudes Towards Implementing Virtual Exchange into the curriculum – A needs analysis report and In-service Teachers’ Experiences with Virtual Exchange and their Attitudes Towards Implementing Virtual Exchange into the curriculum – A needs analysis report). This has been enabled by similar questionnaire structure with comparable, often even identical content. The decision what to compare or rather where to inspect for differences was contingent upon formatting, meaning that only questions that had no conditions were eligible for testing.
Questionnaires
Questionnaire — Pre-service teachers.
We are interested in understanding pre-service teachers’ attitudes, experiences, perceived competence, problems, and needs related to virtual exchange. To gather this information, we have created a questionnaire. The goal is to use the data to develop a teacher education module and professional development course.
Questionnaire pre-school/primary teachers
We are interested in understanding in-service teachers’ attitudes, experiences, perceived competence, problems, and needs related to virtual exchange. To gather this information, we have created a questionnaire. The goal is to use the data to develop a teacher education module and professional development course.
